My Commitment to Public Service
Since moving here in 1990 to practice family medicine and raise my family, I have been deeply invested in our community.
As Vernon’s former mayor, I championed the dedicated infrastructure levy that rebuilt our roads, sidewalks, and parks.
My commitment to public service spans decades of professional and community leadership both in Vernon and on a national level. I have had the honour of serving as president or chairing boards for numerous organizations, including the Ribbons of Green Trails Society, Okanagan Landing & District Community Association, Vernon Senior Curling, and the Turning Points Collaborative Society, where I was a board member for seven years.
I also served as Medical Director for the 2017 Vernon & District 55+ Games and held leadership roles with the Red Cross and Boy Scouts of Canada at local and regional levels. For the past six years, I have been a member of the BC Mental Health Review Board.
Before relocating to BC, I contributed to the McGill Medical School faculty as a clinical instructor and served on the Finance Committee of the New Brunswick Medical Society.

Fiscal Responsibility Born from Experience
My approach to municipal spending is shaped by my upbringing. Raised by a single mother in a family of seven in Northern Saskatchewan, we had very little. I learned the value of a dollar early, developing strict fiscal discipline while financing my own way through medical school.
Later, I applied these practical life skills to successfully managing large medical practices, complex staffing, and ultimately, the City of Vernon’s multimillion-dollar budget.
